Beginner Party Build

Knight holds the line, Priest multiplies the party, Ranger prints clear speed. Unlock slots before optimizing sockets.

Formation Setup

Slot 1 Knight, Slot 2 Priest (after second slot), Slot 3 Ranger (after third slot). If Ranger collides with backline, adjust Formation positions. Fund attack speed on Ranger and survivability on Knight/Priest.

Until slot two exists, play your starter patiently and Alchemy junk into Rune of Command. Do not buy Hunter hoping it spawns an extra slot - that never happens.

When Priest arrives, assign Blessing-style buffs or healing focus based on whether you are dying or simply clearing slowly. Slow clears want more Ranger investment; deaths want more Knight/Priest defense.

Unlock Order for This Trio

This order beats any socket guide. A half-geared trio with automation outperforms a single hero wearing Immortal scraps.

Use the portal when an Act wall appears. Farming 1-8 or your last comfortable stage is part of the build, not a failure state.

  1. 1

    Claim Priest DLC

Free on Steam - do this before long sessions.

  2. 2

    Enable Auto-retry

Manual restarts hide how good the trio will feel.

  3. 3

    Alchemy for slot two

    Put Priest in immediately.

  4. 4

    Save toward slot three

Community gold targets sit near 150k along the path.

  5. 5

    Add Ranger (or your DPS)

Stabilize a farm stage before Torment ego pushes.

Skill Notes

Skill refunds are generally cheap or free - experiment. Prioritize core actives before tiny stat nodes. Rune of Awakening's extra skill slot is high value on Priest once affordable.

Knight should feel sturdy before you chase niche damage nodes on him. Ranger should feel fast; if packs live forever, you are under-geared or on the wrong stage more often than "missing a secret skill."

Priest skill experiments are where beginners win. Buff uptime that multiplies Ranger often beats a greedy heal-only tree on easy stages, while heavier sustain matters on overnight AFK walls.

Gear and Cube Habits

Alchemy duplicates to fund runes. Lock anything with a role-defining affix before Auto Fill. Raise synthesis level before fusing higher item levels for Knight's armor or Ranger's weapons.

Socket defense on the frontline and speed/offense on Ranger. Avoid random elemental bricks on pieces you might Trade Ship later. Read the Cube hub before living in Auto Fill.

Pets can wait until the trio exists. Drop bonuses are wonderful after Auto-retry is already printing clears.

When to Transition

Add Sorcerer for AoE walls or Hunter if purchased. Do not dismantle a working trio during an Act boss week just to chase a tier-list screenshot.

Transition criteria: third slot online, comfortable AFK stage, basic chest automation, and Cube level high enough that experiments are cheap. Until then, deepen Knight Priest Ranger instead of cosplaying endgame.

When you do swap DPS, keep Knight and Priest fixed for a few sessions so you can measure the real gain. If clears get worse, revert and farm gear rather than buying another DLC in panic.

FAQ

What if I started Ranger alone?
Keep Ranger in the DPS slot; add Priest next, then Knight or another DPS based on survivability.
Can Priest tank later?
With gear, Priest can share frontline duties, but Knight remains the simplest beginner tank.
Is Sorcerer OK instead of Ranger?
Yes for AoE-heavy tastes - keep Knight and Priest, stabilize farm stages the same way.
When do I buy Hunter?
After the third slot and a stable loop, if you still want more DPS - never as a slot substitute.
Why is my trio dying overnight?
Stage too hard or Auto-retry on a wall. Portal down and confirm chest/automation settings.
