Classes Hub
Six heroes, three field slots. Understanding the difference between unlocking a class and unlocking a formation slot prevents the most expensive beginner mistakes in TBH: Task Bar Hero.
The Full Roster
TBH: Task Bar Hero ships with Knight, Ranger, and Sorcerer. Priest is a free Steam DLC you should claim before your first serious session. Hunter and Slayer are optional paid classes. Unlocking any class never adds a fourth battlefield slot - slots come from the Rune Tree's Rune of Command path.
Party planning therefore has two currencies: gold for slots and either free time or money for class access. F2P players can clear far with Knight + Priest + Ranger or Sorcerer. Paid peak comps often insert Hunter beside Knight and Priest.
Think of the roster as a bench, not an army size upgrade. Collecting every DLC only expands who you can assign into the same three slots. That mental model stops impulse buys that do nothing until Rune of Command is funded.
| Class | Role | Access |
|---|---|---|
| Knight | Frontline tank | Free |
| Ranger | Attack-speed DPS | Free |
| Sorcerer | Elemental AoE | Free |
| Priest | Heal / buff | Free DLC |
| Hunter | Trapper / elemental DPS | Paid DLC |
| Slayer | Melee burst | Paid DLC |

Roles and Party Coverage
Knight teaches defensive gear and buys time for DPS to scale. Priest multiplies the whole formation with heals and buffs, which is why claiming the free DLC is non-negotiable for most guides. Ranger converts attack speed into clear pace and gold. Sorcerer shines when waves are dense enough for AoE to matter.
Hunter rewards players who want trap and elemental pressure on farm and push stages. Slayer leans melee burst and can feel gear-hungry before it outperforms a well-built Ranger. Neither paid option replaces Priest's team-wide value.
Role coverage beats raw rarity chasing. A party with no sustain dies on overnight AFK. A party with three DPS and no frontline fails the same way. Build pages exist to keep those roles honest while you experiment.
- Frontline: Knight early; geared Priest can share later.
- Sustain and buffs: Priest as soon as slot two exists.
- Damage: Ranger default, Sorcerer for AoE walls, Hunter/Slayer if owned.
Slots vs Unlocks
Players who buy Hunter expecting an instant three-hero army still farm with two characters until Rune of Command nodes are funded. Alchemy gold into the southern Rune path is the correct order. See the Rune Tree guide for gold targets near 150k for the third slot.
Class unlocks without slots are collection progress. Slots without good classes are still weak, but gold is usually the scarcer early resource. That is why F2P Priest plus free starters outperform a paid DPS stuck in a two-hero formation.
After the third slot opens, revisit Formation immediately. Park your tank, assign Priest, and place DPS where backline collisions are minimal. Then specialize sockets: defense for the front, speed or spell power for damage dealers.

Class Progression Rhythm
Hour one is a single hero clearing Act 1 and reaching Rune Tree and Cube unlocks. Hour two to six is Priest in slot two, Alchemy-funded gold, and resisting Synthesis greed. Hour six to ten is third slot, a stable trio, and only then serious rarity climbing.
Skill points should hit core actives before tiny stat nodes. Refunds are generally cheap, so experiment when a stage wall appears. Rune of Awakening's extra skill slot is a high-value later purchase on Priest once formation basics are done.
Gear timing follows class roles. Do not sink Immortal sockets into a temporary fill hero you plan to bench. Keep market candidates out of bulk Alchemy, and raise Cube synthesis level before fusing high item-level pieces for your permanent trio.

Where to Go After Picking a Class
Pair class choice with a build page and a Cube plan. Early gold should not vanish into random Synthesis while you are still one hero short. Once the trio is online, specialize gear: defense on the frontliner, attack speed or spell power on damage dealers.
Use the tier list as context, not destiny. Patch 1.01.x hotfixes can move skill feel without rewriting the whole roster. If a class suddenly feels broken, update the client and re-read tooltips before spending more DLC money.
From here, open beginner party builds for the classic Knight + Priest + Ranger spine, or AFK farm builds if your goal is overnight income. Market and pets hubs matter after slots and automation, not before.
