Beginner Roadmap: Your First 10 Hours
A milestone checklist from install to your third hero slot — built around what new players actually get stuck on.
Before You Start
TBH: Task Bar Hero is designed to run in the background while you work. Progress is fastest when the game stays open on Steam — not when it is fully closed.
Hour 0–1: Class & Act 1
Pick your first hero
You start with one hero slot. Knight is safer for learning; Ranger clears stages faster and earns gold quicker. See the classes guide for a full comparison.
- 1
Choose Knight or Ranger
Knight: Shield Charge focus. Ranger: attack speed and clear speed.
- 2
Clear Act 1 stages
Equip every rarity upgrade. Do not fuse gear yet.
- 3
Assign skill points
Unlock core actives before tiny stat nodes.
Hour 1–3: Level 3–4 Systems
Rune Tree (Level 3)
At level 3 you unlock the Rune Tree — the most important long-term system. Your first gold should go toward party slots and automation, not small stat bumps.
- Path toward the second hero slot (Rune of Command).
- Add Priest as your second hero once the slot unlocks.
- Prioritize Far North runes for auto-open chest when available.
Hero-dric Cube (Level 4)
The Cube unlocks at level 4. Early game, switch to Alchemy and sell duplicate gear for gold to fund runes — not Synthesis.
Hour 3–6: Farm & Unlock Slot 3
If you cannot clear a stage, use the blue portal to drop back and farm gear and levels. Never hard-push a wall for hours.
| Goal | Target |
|---|---|
| Second hero | Priest with Blessing of Might or healing focus |
| Gold reserve | Save toward third hero slot (~150,000 gold) |
| Stage farm | Repeat 1-8 or last comfortable stage |
Hour 6–10: Three Heroes & Act 2 Prep
Soul Stones for Act bosses are only consumed on successful clears — failed attempts cost nothing.
