Starter Class Guide

Your first hero only occupies slot one. The real power spike is slot two with Priest and slot three funded by Alchemy gold - not a paid DLC impulse buy.

Knight or Ranger?

Knight forgives positioning mistakes and teaches defensive gear priorities. Ranger accelerates clears and gold, which shortens the wait for the third slot. Sorcerer is viable but slightly more gear-sensitive early. Claim Priest DLC immediately regardless of first pick.

If you are new to idle ARPGs, Knight reduces rage-quit walls in Act 1. If you already understand portal farming and junk Alchemy, Ranger's pace feels better and funds Rune of Command sooner.

There is no account-destroying first pick. You will unlock the others into the roster. Obsessing over a perfect opener matters less than enabling Auto-retry, reaching Cube, and not synthesizing every white item on sight.

Starting Sorcerer on Purpose

Sorcerer can open the game if you like spell fantasy, but expect spikier early fights until gear and Priest arrive. Put skill points into core AoE tools before tiny nodes, and portal down when a stage stops being comfortable.

Your mid-game still wants Priest in slot two. Sorcerer does not replace sustain. Plan Alchemy gold the same way Knight and Ranger players do: slots and automation before luxury fuses.

If clear speed feels awful, you may be pushing difficulty too early rather than "playing the wrong class." Check stage choice and Auto-retry before you spend money on Hunter as a supposed fix.

First Hour Checklist

These beats matter more than min-maxing your first weapon roll. A starter class with Auto-retry and Priest incoming will outpace a "perfect" opener that stalls on manual retries and melted keepers.

When the second slot opens, assign Priest even if your DPS ego wants another damage hero. The buff/heal multiplier is the real starter power spike across Knight, Ranger, and Sorcerer openers.

  • Install on Windows 10/11 64-bit via Steam.
  • Claim Priest DLC and enable Auto-retry.
  • Bookmark Shift+F11 and Shift+F12 for display recovery.
  • Push to Rune Tree (level 3) and Cube (level 4).
  • Alchemy junk for gold - delay heavy Synthesis.
  • Path south for the second hero slot, then assign Priest.

Starter Mistakes

Buying Hunter before the third slot wastes money relative to gold efficiency. Synthesizing white gear too early starves Rune progress. Closing the game overnight expecting full AFK rates is the other classic error - leave the client open.

Ignoring window hotkeys on a laptop dock setup creates fake "game broken" moments during the exact hours you should be learning Cube and Runes. Fix visibility first; see the Controls hub.

Chasing Steam Market profits before you understand Alchemy vs Trade Ship leads to listing junk or melting Arcana by mistake. Learn locks with Alt + Left Click, then visit the Market hub when high grades actually drop.

After Your Starter Is Online

Fund the third slot, form Knight + Priest + Ranger (or your safe variant), and only then specialize sockets. Use beginner party builds for formation details and AFK farm builds when you settle a overnight stage.

Skill refunds are generally cheap - experiment when stuck. Raise Cube synthesis level before fusing higher item levels. Keep Far North chest automation on the rune shortlist after slots.

Return to the Classes hub when you consider paid DPS. The starter chapter ends when three heroes clear a stable farm stage with Auto-retry, not when you own every DLC.

FAQ

Can I change my first class later?
You unlock other classes into the roster; formation assignment is flexible once slots exist.
Should I main Sorcerer first?
Possible, but Knight/Ranger are smoother tutors for Act 1 walls.
Do I need paid DLC in the first hour?
No. Claim free Priest and play free starters until the third slot is funded.
What if I hate my starter already?
Push to slot two, add Priest, and reassess. Early boredom is often missing systems, not a doomed class.
Ranger first and Knight later - OK?
Yes. Many players start Ranger for gold, then park Knight in the tank slot when the trio forms.
